In the cold desert biking or cycling becomes very dangerous and risky.But for the fearless people, mountain biking is just a feeling of excitement of cycling through the highest mountain range, the Himalayas and Karakoram to ride on Zig-Zag roads in Ladakh. It is also an opportunity for them to explore the Ladakh’s cultures, lifestyle and ancient Buddhist monasteries from snow-capped mountain to rough roads. The slick road melting snows are tricky enough to make one’s wheel skid.

Ladakh adventure activities have won the heart and pedal of several travellers. Wheeling up the windy and narrow tracks that begins from Manali in Himachal Pradesh and ends up at Leh in the Ladakh region is one of the challenging and demanding mountain biking expedition is the Ladakh region.

Best time for mountain Biking

The months of late June to the end of August is the best time for mountain biking in ladakh because on that time ladakhis celebrates spectacular festivals of Ladakh and bikers can enjoy the festival of them and aware from local customs and traditions with pleasant weather.

Some scenic routes

Ladakh’s entire region is popular and apt for mountain biking. The toughest route to ride is from Manali to Leh. Extreme adventure enthusiasts pedals through several high altitude mountain passes, namely Rohtang Pass at an altitude of 3,980 meters followed by Baralacha Pass 4892 m, Lachung la Pass at 5,065 m and finally Tanglang Pass at 5,360 m.

The Sham Valley Trek, Spituk Trek etc are also ideal for mountain biking tours.
