To answer all these questions, let us go through a step by step guide which will turn you happier bit by bit, and such happiness will be long-lasting.
How to be happier each day?
The number one step should be to unfollow all the toxic people in your life. No explanations, no guilt! Just free yourself from all the negative people in your life who make you feel low. You will feel liberated instantly, and consequently, happier.
The next step should be to stop stalking and comparing yourself to people online. In this digital era, we are constantly checking our social media much more than necessary and it leads to FOMO- the fear of missing out! We are obsessed with perfect, picturesque vacations or toned summer bodies. We compare ourselves to these unrealistic standards and feel bad. Well, the only way to stop feeling unhappy is to stop comparing and taking a reality check! Realise that those pictures aren’t always real.
Do more of what makes you happy! Yes, it is that simple. We often don’t allow ourselves to have fun because it makes us feel guilty as if we are missing out on work. But you know what? Having fun is good for your health and it also increases productivity by giving you the much-needed break. So do what you like, whether it is playing basketball or singing your heart out.
Reach out to your loved ones. And by reaching out, I mean not just text them. Call them up once in a while and let them know how much you love them. Or even better, meet them! Chatter away and your heart will feel much lighter.
Do something kind for others each day. Kindness is free, and when given out, it returns back to us multifold. Recently, after enjoying breakfast at a diner in the Burlington Township, N.J., area, a firefighter was the recipient of a random act of kindness. When the waitress named Liz returned the check there was no total or prices, just a note. “Your breakfast is on me today,” it starts off. “Thank you for all that you do; for serving others & for running into the places everyone else runs away from. No matter your role, you are courageous, brave and strong … thank you for being bold and bad*ss every day! Fueled by Fire & Driven by Courage — what an example you are. Get some rest!” Firefighter Tim Young posted the story and a photo of the note to Facebook, urging people to eat at the diner where she worked. But then, he found out the waitress had a GoFundMe campaign that she was using to raise $17,000 to buy her father a wheelchair-accessible van. “Turns out, the young lady who gave us a free meal is really the one that could use the help,” Young wrote in another post. The firefighter’s plea spread like wildfire. His posts were shared thousands of times and 1,000 people donated more than $67,000 — $50,000 above her goal. So you see, the key to being happy is spreading happiness!
